Breakout Session Survey

Thank you for taking time to assist with this survey. Marine Tactical is attempting to determine interest among marine law enforcement to the topics of breakout sessions to be held at MARTAC 08 (to be held in Baltimore, MD - Sept. 28 through Oct. 1, 2008) All "Breakouts" would have a panel of experts and marine units that would be "practical" users of whatever is being discussed. All topics would be covered in a general round table format with a back and forth question and answer period.

(1.) Tactical Operations on Vessels
A discussion of tactical entry / boarding procedures, diversionary devices, special maritime concerns, marine specific products, and tactical gear / operations

(2.) Training
Senior training officials from federal, state, and private maritime law enforcement training discuss their methods and suggest training for marine units

(3.) Underwater Search & Evidence Recovery
Senior personnel from several sate and federal dive teams discuss their methods and procedures.

(4.) Weapons on Board
A discussion of the different weapons options for agencies, the pros and cons of each, as well as liability, weapons training and employment

(5.) ROVs for Law Enforcement
A general discussion of the use of ROVs in marine law enforcement, their operation, maintenance, units available as well as advice from agencies on their operations and advice

(6.) Sonar Selection and Operations
A discussion of the different types of sonar available, theory of operation, uses / unit selection, boat mounting, and case studies

(7.) Conducting Realistic Maritime Exercises
How to conduct realistic maritime exercises on the water

(8.) Nuke / Rad Detection From Vessels
Basic information on theory and operation of radiation detectors and specific factors effecting marine operation as well as discussion of some detectors available

(9.) Vessel High Speed Pursuit Tactics & Vessel Disabling
A discussion of methods for high speed pursuits and tactics and methods / devices for vessel disablement

(10.) Night Vision & Thermal Imaging on Vessels
Theory and operation of the different technologies, which technologies work best in different applications

(11.) Less than Lethal on the Water
A discussion of current "less than lethal" and is it applicable on the water - as well as new items in development and their possible employment in the marine environment

(12.) Vessel Escorts & Security Zones
A General discussion of how to establish and conduct vessel escorts or establish / maintain security zones around stationary assets

(13.) New Technologies for Marine Law Enforcement A discussion of simulators, high speed internet devices for boats, ways to relay FLIR or daylight video to helicopters / command centers, AIS, and small domain awareness systems

(14.) Waterborne I.E.D.s
The new threat what is it, training available, diver / sonar detection / countering
